Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

I was actually debating with myself earlier if I should post this message here or not, good thing that the better side of me won. I know everyone has been greeting everyone in the past few hours and mine might just be just another Christmas greeting for you, but it isn't just THAT.

As a child I grew up knowing Christmas partly because of all the gifts I anticipate to receive from my parents to my uncles, aunts, Godfathers and Godmothers.

As a teen I thought it was about being with my cool relatives or favorite cousins and pigging out on the yummy food laid out on the Noche Buena table.

As a young woman I thought it was about shouldering and hosting the Christmas eve dinner and making sure you have bought gifts from your parents down to your youngest Godchild.

As me right now, I realize that Christmas is not about eagerly waiting for the gifts you will receive, it's not also about feeling obliged to give gifts, it's certainly not just about lavishly enjoying your Noche Buena and other Christmas delicacies you love pigging out on. From what I know and feel right now, it's about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, being there for and with your family, accepting the fact and not feeling grumpy if you aren't bombarded with gifts and appreciating whatever food there is to enjoy and share with family.

It's not really about the physical things but rather remembering Jesus Christ, and simply being thankful for the blessings we have been generously given. So, IF you're broke right now, a bit disappointed with your measly Christmas dinner, upset that you haven't received any gift yet, well don't be! Search your heart and I know that you will find in there a lot of reasons to be thankful for, those reasons that really count. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone! :)
