All Hail Ramen Nagi!

Having been a fan of Jin Loves to Eat, I have been constantly salivating over her endless ramen escapades in and out of the country. I even made a mental bucket list of ramen houses to visit as soon as possible, one of them is Butao Ramen.

As lady luck would have had it, Ramen Nagi (as it is known here) finally opened its flagship store in SM Aura late last year. Would you believe that I waited at least 6 months before finally trying it out? It's not that I didn't mean to, but the place was always packed to the brim that I had to choose and eat elsewhere. See, if you know me personally, you'll know that I don't do so well in waiting games. :P

Ebi King Ramen 410.00PHP or 9.37USD. Fast forward to June, I was able to get sure seats in Ramen Nagi's newest branch in SM Mall of Asia. You could imagine how giddy I was! The Ebi King is one of Ramen Nagi's Limited King varieties and this was my office mate's order, which she willingly shared on the condition that I do the same with mine. Their Ebi King uses shrimp broth, instead of the usual pork variety. While I was able to appreciate this, it pales in comparison to the love of my life.

Black King Ramen Kuroo 410.00PHP or 9.37USD. Say hello to the one and only love of my life, the black king! Why? Why not? It's black, it's loaded, it's everything I want in a ramen bowl come to life. A genius combination of pork broth with squid juices, it's ominously dark facade hides gems that lurk within the deepest recesses of the bowl.

I was a little bit of a sissy, so I played it safe while ordering. I chose "normal" for richness of taste, special sauce and amount of toasted garlic, but made sure to pick pork belly, green onions and al dente or hard noodles. I had to make sure the noodles don't get too soft because it take me forever to photograph everything, teehee. :)

We shared an extra order of Tamago at 50.00PHP or 1.14USD. It was the perfect add-on to my bowl, it seemed like the morning sun breaking the monotonous darkness all around. I believe I might have gained a few pounds with this, but it was all worth it. Ramen holds a spot in my heart that I cannot erase and now, Ramen Nagi is permanently trapped inside. See you on my next pig out session!
