Celebrating 5 Years With Chum @The Sizzlin' Pepper Steak

Last October 12, 2010 BF and I celebrated our 5th anniversary. Initially we didn't plan to dine out that day, but on the day itself, I felt that it only happens once a year and it would be great to dine out, even somewhere not so fancy since we were trying to save up. BF got his medical exam results first, that showed no adverse results so that's great news for us. Then came the hard part, DECIDING WHERE TO EAT.

BF has been trying to play safe when it comes to restaurant and fast food choices, I on the other hand am willing to try almost anything once, and repeat if I get hooked. So the playing safe BF initially vouched for KFC, the man likes his gravy. I wasn't really feeling it since KFC branches are always crowded, noisy and somewhat unkempt, although the food is great nevertheless, I just wanted to steer clear of crowds and background noises for the day.

I was craving for rice since I only had little to eat that morning, a favorite place instantly popped into my mind, The Sizzlin' Pepper Steak! BF likes it there so he no qualms about my decision. :)

Beef Pepper Rice
Php 195.00 or $ 4.52

I played safe and went for my staple order. I knew I can never go wrong with their Beef Pepper Rice. Apologies for the crappy photo and the ones to follow, it's really hard to get that perfect shot when you urgently need to start mixing your hot plate. :)

Here's my Beef Pepper Rice all mixed up and sprinkled generously with black pepper, chili oil (or I think it is) and other condiments. I was in pepper rice heaven! Loved that the butter brought out a nice salty, sweet flavor and combine that with a little bit of spiciness. It was fiesta in my palate.

Beef Curry Pepper Rice
Php 235.00 or $ 5.44

BF went a notch spicier and went for their Beef Curry Pepper Rice. He was hurrying me up as I attempted to take a decent photo of his order. Amazingly, he finished his rice even though I was still halfway through my order! I wonder if he burnt his tongue, hehe. He still had a lot of Beef left, so we decided to order and share an extra Pepper Rice. (I know, we're heavy eaters!)

Blueberry Cheesecake
Php 175.00 or 4.05

What I really was eyeing was their Strawberry Cheesecake but I was informed it wasn't available. So I opted for my next bet, their Blueberry Cheesecake. Now let me tell you, I haven't ordered a lot of Cheesecakes since my love affair with food started, because one time I was in Aruba Bar & Restaurant, their cheesecake was so frozen I didn't get to enjoy it.

Good thing this Blueberry Cheesecake made me change my impression about cheesecakes in general. It was HEAVEN. It was cold but definitely not frozen, I loved every smooth, creamy spoonful because it seemed to literally just melt in my mouth. I shared my dessert with Chum and he genuinely liked it, that he even suggested we make a home made cheesecake in the future, and if our experiment fails, we can always just drop by any Sizzlin' Pepper Steak branch to make sure we enjoy great tasting food. :)
