Early Pre~Christmas Dinner At Persia Grill

Makati is a treasure trove of good dining spots. Some times you just have to look a wee bit further to discover there's still more beyond what you thought was already the horizon. My house mates and I had a small Pre-Christmas dinner last week and initially wanted to dine at any restaurant in Ayala Triangle, though as expected the lines were long and waiting time takes forever, good thing Joey suggested Persia Grill, partly hidden like gem in Valero Street beside a Carpark of all places, waiting to be noticed.

A Cake So Heavenly, It's Gone Like A Thief In The Night :)

Warning: Purchase at your own risk. Any leftovers should be heavily guarded, specially when left in the office fridge. This cake conspires some people to steal, true story :)

T.G.I. Friday's: Great Food But Callous Service

I appreciate the way restaurants go the extra mile to make their loyal customers feel extra comfy and satisfied by checking up on them and inquiring how has the dining experience, the food preparation and all that jazz, but you see, there's a very thin line with being attentive and just plain insensitive.

The Little Tokyo Chronicles: First Stop, Hana

Out of the cab and a few steps inside, I had to make a double take as I thought I was already in a small village somewhere in Japan with all the wooden designs and hanging lanterns aglow. I say, not bad for a first impression! though to make the transportation complete, it's not only my eyes that need be satiated but my growing hunger as well.

Café Breton Est Magnifique!

A step inside this quaint crepe and coffee place and it's like I'm transported to Paris. There's this undeniable and inviting feeling as I sit comfortably and nod my head along with the chic music all around me as I anxiously wait for my crepe. I feel like I should be wearing a beret for this. :)

A Bite Of Flavours Of The Sun At Café Mediterranean

\

Lately, I've been craving for meaty meals which I think is both a good and bad thing. Good because I live in the city where everything is available, and bad because~ I live in the city where everything is pricey.

Catching Up Lunch At The French Baker

Salad Starter PHP 82.00 or USD 1.89. Since the BFF is back in the city, we waste no time and do some serious catching up! I cannot stress enough that her meal is not a proper meal without her greens, so Batch settles for their Salad Starter.

Office Packed Lunch [Series]: Home Made Sushi

Yes, I'm still alive. It's not that I'm running out of my creative juices, it's just that my food blog had to have to take the backseat for the meantime while I prioritize more responsibilities at the moment. So let me leave you with my favorite and fail-safe packed lunch option. Home made sushi baby!

Say It With Roses + Chocolates

I love October, for multitudes of reasons, although the one reason I could think on top of my head is that, it's our anniversary month, 6 years and counting! :)

Pig Out Sessions In Boracay: 888 Restaurant

Imagine yourself away from the busy world that is the city life. Imagine, even just for a moment the sound of the waves, the feel of the cool ocean breeze, the sound of light, easy and genuine laughter all around you as you close your eyes. Just let yourself go, unwind and take in all the beauty around you.

Ah, peace. Everything's so tranquil and perfect with your vacation. You've come to a place as far as this, to live in your own little paradise even just for a short span of time. Now, I'm sure you wouldn't want to ruin that with fast food dining right? No, please don't. While you're in paradise, make sure you dine like royalty.

What's For Lunch[?] Series: Italian BMT™ Sub from Subway!

For those days when our tasks are composed of smoke tests and/or regression tests that have the tightest turnaround, my office mates and I have been relying on Subway for a quick fix, and it never fails to hit the right spot.

ACS Office Lunch Party from CCME Homemade Foodstuff Co.

Fish in Mayonnaise (Lapu-Lapu or Red Grouper)
PHP 700.00 or USD 16.35

What I missed about office based work is the frequent pig out sessions for multitudes of reasons, or some times lack of it! Last Friday was no exception, we were literally drowning with tons of food our team ordered from CCME Homemade Foodstuff Co. to celebrate [I believe to be about] 3 birthdays, and the last working day for one of our SQAs.

Home Made Dynamite Cheese Sticks aka Bazooka a la Chum

First attempt, actually. Chum calls this bazooka but it's also known as dynamite cheese sticks all over the web. The only twist is that Chum puts in slivers of crab stick inside each piece of carefully wrapped green finger chili.

How to make, you ask? It's super duper easy!

Big Better Burgers: Beyond Burgers

Potatoes have always been one of my favorite go-to comfort food. I always try to gauge how good a burger joint is by the quality of their potato dishes, that's why when Chum asked me where I wanted to eat, I realized we still haven't tried Big Better Burger's potato wedges and I thought, it was time we do. :)

This Little Piggy Went Wee Nam Kee

Cute title if I do say so myself. Nyahaha! Okay, back to regular programming, despite having a food blog, there's still a lot of dishes out there that remains mysterious to me. So please don't think highly of me because I too, have not yet tasted everything, and I guess that's the beauty of it. There's still a lot of firsts waiting for me, that's why I really looked forward to pigging out at Wee Nam Kee and see what the fuzz was all about.

Office Packed Lunch [Series]: Cheesy Tuna Pesto With Black Olives

Apologies for the erratic posting. I've been so negligent with trying to maintain regular blog posts lately, and it's not that I'm dead beat to do it, but because I've been favoring other activities like voracious reading and movie marathons. Baaaaaaaaaaad. Must make use of my paid domain name! :P

El Buono Special Pizza, A New Found Favorite!

El Buono Special 12"
PHP 399.00 or USD 9.52

No two pizzas taste alike, that's why it's always like an adventure each time I open up a box. I've tasted many, some of which were bad, others were okay but forgettable and only a few that makes the word “diet” die in your vocabulary.  I’m delighted to discover another pizza that made me fall hook, line and sinker. Imagine a pizza laden with mozzarella cheese, ham, pepperoni, ground beef, bell peppers, onions, pineapple, black olives, corn,  made more ambrosial with El Buono’s signature sauce, sprinkled with herbs and spices that gives this one heck of a pizza, an added edge over other pizzas I have tried in the past.

Chocolat's Strawberry Cheesecake

There would be no description as fitting as Rachel Green's for this wonderful cheesecake.  "It had a buttery, crumbly, graham cracker crust, with a very rich yet light, cream cheese filling..." Oh wait, is your mouth watering just yet?

Bottomless Dinner At Dads Kamayan Saisaki!

Though I eat out often, I must admit that based on experience, a hefty bill doesn't always equate to a full, contented stomach. That's why most people resort to all-you-can-eat buffets, but finding the best of them all takes time and a lot of pig out sessions too! I've only tried dining at Tong Yang and Dads,  and until now I always root for Dads!

No Pancake Dinner At Pancake House

Mango Ice Cream Crepe
PHP 155.00 or USD 3.56

Don't ask me why I stray away from the restaurant's specialty most of the time. At this point, I've gone beyond caring. I don't even know why myself. I just like to think of it as a good thing, I get to discover more hits and unfortunately enough, some misses.Yes, I can be that stubborn. :)

Team Dinner Date @Pizza Hut

You probably must be muttering to yourself right now, "Pizza Hut again?!?". Well I can't blame you if you feel that way, but don't blame me for the repetition because Pizza Hut is one of the few pizza and pasta places I like going back to. Good cozy ambiance + good food, what's not to like?

Spoon Meals By Figaro

Tired of the same lunch everyday? Does everything seem bland, too salty, overcooked, undercooked, dried up, mushy, rubbery or just plain old boring that you'd rather skip meals and just drown a mug or two of coffee? Fret no more! You'll never starve yourself again with Figaro's newest offering, Spoon Meals by Figaro.

Dinner With House-Mates @ Jatujak

Pomelo Salad
PHP 210.00 or USD 4.86

It's awesome that my friends show their support with my food blog whenever we dine out. They'll always leave me the easy but more than oftentimes hard decision of where to eat. Imagine that plus I needed to choose a restaurant inside SM Mall of Asia, I can't choose a restaurant I've tried before, it was already past 8:00PM and our stomachs were growling.

My Not So Funny Experience at Funny Funny

Beef Bowl
PHP 120.00 or $ 120.00

Pardon the redundant title, but this one's for real. My officemates and I found ourselves with the usual dilemma everyday, where to eat? So while we were wandering aimlessly, we saw this restaurant that at far, looked like Kenny Rogers Roasters, but it wasn't. They had a "Pre-Opened" sign up front but we went inside anyway. :)

The Best Home Made Congee Ever!

What I had for Maundy Thursday. No, Chum didn't cook this one because he had work, boo. Manang, our house helper is the one behind this hearty, thick, and rich congee that's really filling but is too good to resist that it made us go back for seconds.

Restaurant Review: Munchers Inc.

Chili Con Carne Rice Bowl
PHP 79.00 or $ 1.82

I was pleasantly surprised when I received a restaurant food and service review invitation a few weeks ago for Munchers Inc. So I did a little search on Google to see how many people have dined and given their reviews online. My interest got really piqued with the glowing reviews online so I said YES! We were a bit late on the day of the review, no thanks to the unpredictable traffic. Good thing that the management still waited for us. :P

Lola's Best Wasn't Good Enough

We're gonna eat at Tapa King, we're gonna eat at Tapa King, we are going to eat at Tapa King, NOT! I had been wanting to eat at Tapa King for lunch and the devs agreed with my decision to eat there, but lo and behold, on the way to Tapa King the boys entered the restaurant beside it. *facepalm moment*

We were already inside, so I thought, what the heck, I could still dine at Tapa King the next day, and made peace with the situation. :P

A "Diamond" In The Rough

Perusing our refrigerator on a late Friday night, I saw a whole tray of what seemed like Ferrero Rocher Chocolates. I had to make a double take, These were no Ferrero Rocher Chocolates but rather Diamond Chocolates, a brand I've only come across just that night. Upon closer inspection it seemed that the only notable differences would be the swirls and stickers on top of each piece.

Legazpi Sunday Market Detour

It was destined to be a day where plans failed, but in a good way. Batch and I were in a cab going to Greenbelt supposedly, because we were having Pepper Lunch for brunch that lazy Sunday morning, but when Batch spied the Legazpi Sunday Market still open, I found myself being drawn out of the cab faster than I could object. :)

BFF Brunch At Bigby's Cafe And Restaurant

Met up with Batch, my BFF, just this past weekend. I slept in that day and went to the mall with a hungry stomach. We wanted to try something, somewhere new at first, but even after looking at Orchard Road's and Gotti's menu, Batch eventually "hinted" she wanted to go back to Bigby's, haha. I was darn hungry so I didn't object anymore.

Fried? Ice Cream

Food stalls and establishments inside malls are getting more and more creative these days. They come up with  more unique ways to serve a food, that let's admit is pretty common and you can buy almost anywhere. Take ice cream for example. Would you rather buy a plain old 1 scoop ice cream on a boring cone or be delighted watching your ice cream literally get fried in front of you? I chose the latter. :)

World Class Persian Kabab. Yes, AGAIN!

Any food that makes a big impact on me is sort of like an LSS [Last Song Syndrome]. I go back again and again just to have a taste of it until the day I get fed up, if that's even possible at all.  This food doesn't need to be expensive nor exotic. It can even come from a hole in the wall place. I only look for 3 things, which sadly is sort of hard to find these days altogether. 1. Cleanliness. 2. Great Service. 3. Awesome food.

Terrible Service At Teriyaki Boy

If by any chance, I would be able to choose my nationality other than being a Filipino, I would choose to be Japanese. It would be such an easy decision for me, all because I love Japanese food. I think it's pretty obvious since from that start I've shared with you guys numerous Japanese themed pig out sessions, and don't forget BF and I also make occasional DIY sushi just to get our sushi fix.

World Class Persian Kabab Dining With BF

My BF and I eat a lot, and often, but during those numerous times it's always sure that I'm the one behind the pig out session. So when Chum tells me about this great kabab place in Quezon City, I always say YES, after all he's the chef [in our relationship] and apparently has better taste buds than me. :P

Lots' A Pizza

Apartment living sure has its perks, but along with those perks are also some necessary purchases. My house mates have been very accommodating and even lent me one of the mattresses all for myself since I had no time to purchase mine because my company demanded I start ASAP. So last week, when I finally had some down time I asked one of my house mates, Joey to go with me to SM Hypermarket Makati to get me a mattress. :)

Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria [Embracing My Inner Italian Part II]

Count on me to always order dishes that aren't a restaurant's best sellers. Maybe half the time, that's the reason why I end up being disappointed after a pig out session. So, one time I mustered up enough self control and revisited Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria. Why? Two things: The service is A+ and the last time I went there, I didn't order any of their best sellers, I didn't even order a pizza. :P

Pig Out Disaster: Ton Ton Tei Takoyaki

Ton Ton Tei Takoyaki
Php 25.00 or $ 0.58 (per 3 pcs.)

In terms of "authentic" Takoyaki, I have no experience at all. So forgive me if I try to give myself a temporary high through the mushrooming takoyaki stalls in malls and supermarkets here. BUT! If there is one thing I've learned in trying out these obviously cheap "takoyaki", it's that it will never satisfy the foodie in me. Case in point: Ton Ton Tei Takoyaki.

I believe there were no octopus bits, and the vegetables weren't that generous either. In my experience, Kuya Chito's Takoyaki is more overloaded with vegetables than this. The sauce is forgettable. I'm not quite sure but it's somehow like the sauce for fresh lumpia minus the sweetness. Samurai's Takoyaki sauce's sweet and spicy blend is definitely waaaaay better than this. It's somehow funny that their line is "When you think of takoyaki....think of Ton Ton Tei."

If there ever will be another time I will eat takoyaki again, It better be the real thing.

Ton Ton Tei Takoyaki

Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria

Pizza and Pasta places have been multiplying in numbers and with so many places to choose from, you just have to go for it some time and set out on a new adventure. I'm not really the type of person who heads to a restaurant straight up when it's just newly opened. Like other normal people, I wait for the hype, let it cool down a bit, and then pay a visit. :)

Wham! Burgers

I know Wham! Burgers has already been in the burger business for quite a while already, in fact I see Wham! Burgers branches every now and then but it was only this [err, last] week that I got to try their food.
