Olive Garden Salad
Php 159.00 or $ 3.64
A day before Batch goes back to Bicol, we decided to try the controversial Pizza Hut Lechon Pizza. This was the same week that I stayed at her apartment, Batch met up with a friend of hers that morning so I just followed after a few hours. I overslept, plus the traffic was horrendous from Makati to Mandaluyong, so when we caught up with each other, I was really famished not having to eat any breakfast yet for that day.
We sat in one of the corner booths and eyed their Manila's Signature Dish set which offers the Lechon Pizza, only to be informed it wasn't available that day.
Complimentary Garlic Bread Sticks
Well, we were already comfortably seated and I was already munching on these not so "garlicky" but fine enough bread sticks so we decided to stay and order a different pizza. *Sigh, Lechon Pizza, why are you so elusive to me???*
We started off with their Olive Green Salad as pictured above. It was good for sharing since it had a lot of tomatoes, lettuce, black olives, cucumber, roasted bell peppers, herbed croutons and tasted better than Don Henrico's attempt at a salad, but still, we can't help but compare it to our favorite Gumbo salad. The verdict? Gumbo still wins in the salad competition.
4 Pieces of Burnin' Hot Buffalo Wingstreet(Boneless and Breaded)
Php 159.00 or $ 3.64
Funny thing, we ordered Buffalo wings in Pizza Hut when we should have tried Don Henrico's. Batch specifically asked for boneless and breaded but after finishing our meal, and Batch remembering her preference, we realized that our order wasn't strictly followed. But, do read on, since overall we were satisfied with our dining, we let it pass that time. (Pizza Hut Bistro, I'm keeping my eye on you!) So folks, next time even under extreme hunger situations, double check if you really got that food you asked for. For any doubters, I'd gladly scan our receipt for you and swear on everything I've got. :)
Actually, it's not all wings, I think there were 2 wings and 2 legs, and they're really very spicy to the bone, which I love. It comes with a dip and we chose the Mayo Mustard dip, but the wings and legs are already so flavorful, that we rarely dipped it in the Mayo Mustard. I think I have found a new love, for buffalo wings! Any recommendations where to get great tasting and maybe even better ones?
Viva Roma (Regular)
Php 319.00 or $ 7.29
Batch decided about which pizza to try, and settled for Viva Roma, since we couldn't get our Lechon Pizza fix that day. It came in loaded with ham, pepperoni, Italian sausage, crispy bacon bits, mushroom, green bell peppers, onions and black olives lovingly resting upon a bed of mozzarella and parmesan cheese, for the final touch, a little bit of drizzled olive oil. It could use more cheese, but with the present serving and for it's price, it's actually a great deal already. As I am typing this entry, I am getting hungry from my photos, can other food bloggers relate? :)
Seafood Supremo
Php 235.00 or $ 5.37
What's pizza without pasta right? The two always go so well together and being pasta lovers,we decided on their Seafood Supremo, we were obviously on a seafood and pasta roll after having just dined at Don Henrico's the day or a few days before.
The pasta came in wrapped, and Batch said something about how lovely and yummy the bread smelled as it was served, I didn't notice, I was too busy eating and taking photographs in between. :)
Maybe they keep this wrapped so they can preserve the heat for a while, Batch said maybe because we won't get overwhelmed by the seafood smell. Well, who actually knows? Maybe both? Upon unwrapping, I was a bit skeptical that it didn't look as loaded as it was on their menu, where have all the seafood gone to? Turns out, if you mix it a little or take out some of the pasta, you'll find out that the treasures were hidden underneath. Why? I don't know, but good thing it was all there. Taste wise, it was good. Plenty of squid, shrimp and scallops hidden underneath al dente pasta, served quite generously with their tomato cream sauce.
Although there were 1 and 1/2 fails for the dining experience. First 1/2 was the elusive Lechon Pizza and second which gets a whole point all to itself, the boneless and breaded Wingstreet fail, but the salad, pizza, pasta made up for it. Wait! Actually what won was over was the warm and attentive service given to us. It made the dining experience very awesome, we just need to be more careful in keeping vigil about what our orders were next time. To Pizza Hut Bistro, here's a hint, we loved it there but the tip might even be bigger next time if we get what we ordered, exactly. *wink wink*
We gulped down lots of mineral water throughout the entire meal. Which makes me wonder, do you order mineral water or just their tap or free water, or whatever you call it? The buffalo wings makes me want to go back, plus the ever elusive Lechon Pizza! How about you dear readers? Have you dined at Pizza Hut Bistro lately? Any favorites, recommendations or must try you'd like to share? Most importantly, have you tried the Lechon Pizza, and am I missing out or not on a lot because up to now I haven't tried it?
