Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria [Embracing My Inner Italian Part II]

Count on me to always order dishes that aren't a restaurant's best sellers. Maybe half the time, that's the reason why I end up being disappointed after a pig out session. So, one time I mustered up enough self control and revisited Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria. Why? Two things: The service is A+ and the last time I went there, I didn't order any of their best sellers, I didn't even order a pizza. :P

Cold Salad
PHP 150.00 or $ 3.46

I was dining alone but it felt that ordering only pizza would be too minimal and there'd be no diversity in taste. So, I ordered their Cold Salad. It's a combination of cold penne pasta, white cheese, smoked ham, cucumber, boiled eggs, and crisp lettuce in a honey mustard dressing. Oh and by the way, this is one of their best sellers. (See, I have self control!)

This actually can be good enough for two people already so I can definitely say that the price is cheap. The penne was cooked al dente and all the pieces were very well coated with the honey mustard dressing. The only problem was, half-way through my Cold Salad, my taste buds were telling me that I was getting fed up, which I think was the fault of the dressing.

I still suggest you try their Cold Salad out, but just have someone else to share it with.

Messicana Pizza 8"
PHP 165.00 or $ 3.80

My goal was to try their pizza out, silly me that I didn't do any research first. I was intrigued by their Messicana pizza (Yes, it's a best seller too) because, it kind of sounded "spicy" to me. Don't ask me why, I just had an inkling that it was. Was I right?

They served it hot and loaded with beef toppings, bacon, cheddar cheese, mushrooms and "mexican seasoning" which appeared to be some kind of powder. I loved the fact that the pizza was bordering between thin and thick crust, and compared to other pizzas out there, you would finish up the usually ignored crust because it had a nice crunch to it.

The "mexican seasoning" powder however was turning out to be a bit salty for my liking with every bite, but don't trust me entirely on this because I was "umay" already with the honey mustard dressing of my Cold Salad. So I had the leftovers wrapped up and decided to have the remaining slices for breakfast the next day. Turns out, the pizza wasn't as salty as my first impression, but it definitely wasn't spicy.

Overall, I would love to have the Cold Salad again but in moderation. As for the pizza? It was good but nothing that sets it apart from all the competition. Maybe I'll try their other pizza best sellers, who knows, it might be too early to tell and judge.
