Fried? Ice Cream

Food stalls and establishments inside malls are getting more and more creative these days. They come up with  more unique ways to serve a food, that let's admit is pretty common and you can buy almost anywhere. Take ice cream for example. Would you rather buy a plain old 1 scoop ice cream on a boring cone or be delighted watching your ice cream literally get fried in front of you? I chose the latter. :)

(Candy sprinkles, chocolate drops, chocolate stick)
PHP 40.00 or $ 0.92

Not an appealing angle, but hey it's still ice cream! I was actually quite surprised how generous the staff was with the toppings on my fried ice cream. I don't know if they really serve that much or just because she got a hint from me asking to photograph and take a video of her preparation. The ice cream, to my amusement is even better, creamier and thicker than the dirty ice cream we've grown to know and love over the years.

BF's order is the Vanilla Fried Yogurt Ice Cream which is pictured above, which I believe has the same price range for 2 toppings but has no syrup yet. After a little coaxing the staff poured a generous amount of chocolate syrup on his fried ice cream. :)

I was really pleasantly amused that I decided to take a video of how they prepare it. I specially love the part where they scrape off the ice cream. The waiting time is obviously longer than when you buy a regular ice cream on a cone so I don't suggest this to people who are a bit impatient and are in a hurry. It really amazes me that the thick and creamy ice cream I ordered started out in liquid form. The frying process somehow reminds me of how crepes are made.

I know that food stalls in malls tend to overprice for something that probably won't satisfy your hunger, but Miguelito's Fried Ice Cream is worth every peso. I don't feel like I've been overcharged at all since I enjoyed watching my ice cream get fried, find out that it's actually pretty good and I had a hard time finishing everything up. So, have you guys tried Miguelito's Fried Ice Cream or other Fried Ice Cream places around? How did you like it? I'd love to hear your thoughts! See you on my next pig out sessions!
