Cute title if I do say so myself. Nyahaha! Okay, back to regular programming, despite having a food blog, there's still a lot of dishes out there that remains mysterious to me. So please don't think highly of me because I too, have not yet tasted everything, and I guess that's the beauty of it. There's still a lot of firsts waiting for me, that's why I really looked forward to pigging out at Wee Nam Kee and see what the fuzz was all about.
Roasted Hainanese Chicken Rice [Personal Set]

Ever experienced this? Reading rave after rave of a particular dish that the mere mention of it makes your mouth water, but once you taste it, BAAAM! the illusion's broken? Well, I just did. I don't know, I guess I overestimated it in my head. Yes the chicken was tasty, moist and tender but it just didn't really "wow" me. The rice had the right amount of flavor but what I just don't get is that the personal set wasn't served hot, as I would have liked it much better.
The dipping sauces surely give an added oomph, but I didn't dare try the middle one with ginger. To let you in on a little secret, I gag cringe at the strong taste of ginger. Sure, I do eat dishes with sauteed ginger in it, given the wide use of it in our native cuisine, but I do not like actually biting into itsy bitsy pieces of it.
Spinach in Oyster Sauce

Fresh and crunchy spinach with the right amount of sweet and salty blend that would make one take a spoonful or two of more chicken rice. Just a little bit overpriced if I may say so. :)
Cereal Prawns

I'm glad that my BFF and I tried this despite the hefty pricing! It's divine! You can't see it but there's 4 medium prawns hidden in that mountainous pile of crushed cereals,oats and other stuff that makes it awesome. I realized that this is best eaten with lots of rice because if you just consume it as is, the heady buttery, sweet flavor will give you the umay factor faster.
This little piggy would go back to Wee Nam Kee even just for their Cereal Prawns alone, or maybe I should just make my own version? Have you guys tried dining at Wee Nam Kee as well?
