I live for Japanese food, I crave for ramen, sushi, kani salad and other mouth-watering Japanese staples all the time! Luckily for me, I'm not alone. Ekai shares the same love for Japanese food that I can't help but realize that most of our pig out sessions are in Japanese restaurants. I think the the idiom "birds of the same feather, flock together" really is true.
Kani Pomelo Salad. 228.00PHP or 5.42USD approx. We shared a plate of this salad for our appetizer, and we were not disappointed! I know I can easily make this at home, but it's nice to order it a Japanese restaurant for a more authentic feel and experience.
I love how the kani sticks are battered and fried, the welcome addition of nori strips and the pleasant change of using roasted sesame dressing instead of the staple Japanese mayo.
Uni Sashimi. 298.00PHP or 7.09USD approx. This, obviously was Ekai's order which according to her was fresh, buttery and melt in your mouth. I knew I don't like uni sashimi but forgot exactly why, so I tried a sliver. In a nutshell, it was good for me until the aftertaste kicks in (which is why there's a lemon). There's just some things I will never appreciate, oh well.
Blow-Torched Maki. 289.00PHP or 6.87USD approx. A heavenly combination of tuna, salmon, kani, cream cheese, and lots of ebiko. Have you ever seen anything prettier?
Just a bite of this, and I knew instantly that I had a new go-to restaurant and this would be my staple order! The marriage of the different flavors and textures just had me addicted hook, line and sinker. This will not be my last visit, that's for sure! See you on my next pig out session!
