Flavors of Naga: Breakfast at Bigg's Diner

Batch invited me to stay in Naga City for the Peñafrancia Festival that happened earlier this September. Of course I said yes! Truth be told, I primarily came for the food!

I was supposed to be in Naga for 1 whole week, but due to work constraints (no complaints!) I only left Manila last Wednesday night. I arrived in Naga at around 4:00AM and met up with Batch. First thing she asked me was, "Breakfast?" Good thing that Bigg's Diner branches were aplenty and (most?) operates 24/7!

I was expecting for the Naga Centro branch to be a little quiet, given that it was 4:00AM but the place was almost packed. Can you tell that I fell in love with the 50's  vibe?

Hot Chocolate 52.00PHP or 1.20USD. I wanted something safe for the tummy since it was super duper early and their hot chocolate was the perfect answer! Rich, subtly sweet and less processed than your usual cup of hot choco, it eased my grumbling tummy right away.

Extreme Supreme Burger 145.00PHP or 3.35USD. Savory beef patty, laid on a bed of lettuce, topped with cheese, onion rings, tomatoes, dressing (probably mayo?) and bacon. Batch mentioned that their burgers were fantastic, but on this particular visit the bacon was a tad too salty. How salty? Enough to down about 2 glasses of water.

Fries 50.00PHP or 1.16USD. A burger alone seems incomplete without it's trusty side-kick, the fries. Thick cut and amply seasoned. I actually forgot to taste a piece, but hey how can you go wrong with fries?

Pork Cordon Bleu 159.00PHP or 3.68USD. One of their many bestsellers, their version does not disappoint! Crisp on the outside while remaining juicy, flavorful and moist inside. Served with a side of mashed potato, sauteed veggies and a cup of rice. I actually had a hard time finishing this. @____@

Pili Pie Cake with Strawberry Ice Cream 85.00PHP or 1.97USD.  I was on takaw tingin mode and when I saw this in their display, it was just so hard to pass up on! It was a sweet way to end a meal and start a long day ahead!

Did you know that Bigg's Diner has been serving Bicolanos good food since 1983? That's really an awesome achievement and they are still expanding to date! I would like to try more of their bestselling dishes in the future, for sure. See you on my next pig out sessions!
