Impromptu Dinner at Ippudo Ramen

I know, I know! Ippudo has been in the Philippine scene since September, but the lines are always insanely long and my tummy just couldn't handle the ridiculous waiting time when I know I could have had dinner elsewhere, sans all that unnecessary hassle. Thank God for holiday operating hours, my office mates and I were able to walk in without the killer lines after doing overtime and several rounds of bowling.

Alqueria Restaurante Y Chocolateria: Paella Heaven

Truth be told, I am no expert in gauging a Spanish themed restaurant's authenticity. All that matters for me is that the food satisfies and delivers happy smiles all throughout the dining table. I guess it was high time to venture the mall world, and expand my horizons by going for a paella fix rather than my sushi and ramen fix. Here we go!

Back for Seconds At Ikkoryu Fokouka Ramen

Before you hurl your mouse at your screen and complain the obvious fact that I am back on a cloying and already tiresome "ramen roll", first things first; I am not sorry. I love ramen, you guys! It's the epitome of comfort in a bowl, it's a serving of happiness in this cold, cruel world but most of all, it's my Kryptonite. I'm not kidding.

Orgasmic Burgers at 8 Cuts Burger Blends!

Though I love my ramen and sushi, there are several windows of time when I get a mad craving for a damn good burger. I found myself in SM Megamall a few Fridays ago with some friends. The queue for Ippudo Ramen was ridiculously long, good thing I spied 8 Cuts not so far away. It felt like being in the right place, at the right time. Hello, burger. We meet again.

Food Blogging 101: 5 Essential Food Photography Tips and Tricks

I love still life photography, food in particular. I guess all those years of binge reading food blogs was one of the major reasons I've put up one for myself. I'm a visual person, and I am instantly attracted to high-res, well-lit, thoughtfully composed and framed pictures. Yes, it's safe to assume that one of my biggest pet peeves are blurred, and simply bad shots. I'm not saying that I haven't committed that crime, in fact I still take poor pictures and have off days up to now! Photography is not my profession, but a passion. That being said, here are some humble tips from an aspiring food photographer to another.

Coffee and Cake Kind of Afternoon with Phillip Di Bella

Oh, look! It's coffee o'clock! For caffeine lovers, drinking a good cup of coffee is equivalent to a happy way to start anyone's day. Majority of us are coffee dependent, because it never fails to give us that boost and perky outlook we need day in and day out. Therefore, there is nothing more frustrating than tasting bad, rancid coffee. To be brutally frank, I am not a coffee person, but who was I to say no when Australia's Coffee King beckons you to try a cup or two? Stick around to know if Phillip Di Bella made me a coffee convert.

Project Fulfillment Team Dinner at Gerry's Grill

It was not so long ago when our team made time to sit back, relax for a fleeting moment and dine together despite our hectic and crazy work schedules. When it comes to group meals that are "sulit" without sacrificing the quality and flavor profile, Gerry's Grill always comes to mind. So, there we went.

7th Heaven at Gelatissimo, SM Megamall

"You can't buy happiness, but you can buy dessert and that's kind of the same thing." Strenuous days seem to be a common event for me lately, and I often find myself resorting to finding comfort in sweets, which totally throws off all my attempts to eat healthier. Just when I though I've built the restraint, here comes gelato, teasing me and tempting me. Who am I to say no to this piece of heaven?

Mad Mark's Creamery and Good Eats at Glorietta 5

Let's face it, online reviews are our savior when it comes to venturing out with new restaurant finds. But like with everything else, there are pros and cons on reading a review from someone you do not know and that their experience may vary from yours. Regardless of the peril, I summoned up my courage and dined at one of the newest (at least for me) restaurants to be, Mad Mark's.

Just Desserts at Zuzuni Station 1, Boracay Island

After our dinner in Aria Cucina Italiana, the girls and I walked along Station 2 to Station 1 in search of Zuzuni Restaurant, all for the love of their famous mati sin. We missed it on the way and had to retrace our steps. 2nd time's a charm, I'd say because we finally found what we were looking for.

Filipino Themed Breakfast at DeParis Beach Resort, Boracay

Breakfast with a view, sandy toes, wind rendering my hair a mess, the calming sound of the waves hitting the white sand shore and sun-kissed skin. Thank God for vacation leaves! My 4-day beach trip felt felt a whirlwind affair, so pardon me if I'm going to be reliving it here.

Aria Cucina Italiana at Station 2, Boracay Island

Boracay is teeming with restaurants that it does come to a point of being overwhelmed when deciding where your next meal will be. It can get confusing and even frustrating, specially when your tummies are grumbling from the short but tiring trip to get to the island or coming from an afternoon loaded with activities. Beach front restaurants hold a major advantage  in this category, and one such restaurant is Aria Cucina Italiana.

Historic and Gastronomic Filipino Dishes Only At Dekada

"Back to you, It always comes around back to you.I tried to forget you, I tried to stay away but it's too late  Over you, I'm never over, over you.Something about you, It's just the way you move, the way you move me." - John Mayer

Such is the way I feel about Filipino cuisine, my heart may get swayed and sidetracked by Japanese, Italian and Persian delicacies. But in my heart, there is always a permanent place for everything pinoy. There was no better timing and avenue to rekindle my passion and yearning for Filipino cuisine than to have dinner at Dekada! Featuring all the staples you would see in fiestas, family reunions and get together celebrations.

Morelli's Gelato Caffe at Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong

I'm a dessert person, and I often find comfort in devouring a scoop, or two of premium gelato. My only gripe about this, has nothing to do with the quality of the gelato but more so with its presentation. I find it that the common paper cup serving of gelato hinders me from taking decent, mouth watering shots. That is, until the day that I came across Morelli's Gelato Caffe.  #foodbloggerproblems

Yomenya Goemon: Japanese Style Spaghetti House at Glorietta 3

Don't let your eyes deceive you. This bowl of goodness may look like ramen, but it really isn't. We were killing time before our movie starts within 2 hours, and surprisingly at loss for where to have dinner. My eyes caught sight of their sign that read "Japanese Style Spaghetti" so off we went inside.

Kani Dynamite Cheese Sticks v2.0

Call this my guilty pleasure, I don't care! It's a wonderful explosion of flavors and textures with each bite, and it's got me hooked ever since I first tried it. Well, the first attempt was an utter failure but I've learned from my mistake and made up for my cooking boo-boo with lots of practice. I just gotta say that though as cheesy as it sounds, practice does make perfect!

It's A Ramen Kind Of Night At Mitsuyado Sei-Men

We found ourselves hankering for a good bowl of ramen this week, partially due to the bed weather but more so because we just grab any excuse we can find to pig out. My friends and I initially decided to try Raimen Daisho in Shaw Boulevard, but we found ourselves inside Mitsuyado Sei-Men in Jupiter, Makati which was much closer to home.

Home Is Where Cafe Breton Is

It's funny the way I often end my post, saying that "I'll definitely be back for more" which I truly meant but the truth is, with the multitudes of restaurants why repeat something you've already experienced? My life intertwined with Cafe Breton during one of the lowest points in my life back in 2012. It was where my BFF would take me to help me nurse my battered soul. Guess what? 2 years later and I still keep coming back on a regular basis.

Kichitora of Tokyo at SM Megamall

Time flew so fast that once again, rainy season is upon us. Though regardless of the weather, I always have a constant hankering for a sumptuous, nourishing and comforting bowl of ramen. As if it isn't obvious through this blog already!

Damn Good Sushi at Ogetsu Hime

Sushi and I, we're like old buddies. We go way back my college days, when I was satisfied with the ready to eat variety from convenience stores and supermarkets. As I grew older, I'm glad my taste evolved. I now appreciate and practice "quality over quantity" and how else would I find out where my money's well spent than to get my sushi fix on?

All Hail Ramen Nagi!

Having been a fan of Jin Loves to Eat, I have been constantly salivating over her endless ramen escapades in and out of the country. I even made a mental bucket list of ramen houses to visit as soon as possible, one of them is Butao Ramen.

An Ode To Halo-Halo

It seems to me, that I live not in South East Asia, but somewhere along a desert in the Middle East with this unbearable heat. It feels like days since I’ve had a drop of water to quench my parched throat, my legs seem to buckle and give way on the tiresome and endless walk. Just when I thought that not a cactus was in sight to take shade in, lo and behold, I saw an oasis.

Turo-Turo Dining 101

Allow me to kindly take a break and deviate from the fancy schmansy dining. Would you believe that I also enjoy eating at Turo-Turo restaurants? As the term suggests, Turo-Turo literally means pointing out the food you desire behind the glass enclosed food container.  As a typical Filipino, you probably have the basics down to pat. Get in line with a tray, pick your viands and don't forget to ask for a plate of hot rice and a bowl of free soup, pay the tindera your unbelievably affordable bill and find a free dining table that's near a functioning electric fan and maybe facing a TV.

Magnum Cafe Manila: The Pleasure Authority

There is something about limited edition that makes you want to hoard like there's no tomorrow. Same goes with pop up restaurants. Knowing its inevitable end makes you positively curious enough to try it out, despite the long lines, despite the hassle, despite all the cons because you just have to. It's almost a matter of life or death. I kid, of course! But isn't it true? The more something becomes more fleeting, the more hype it gets?

Rogue Magazine: The Appetite Issue!

Rogue Magazine has always been a notch above the competition in my book. They know what they're doing when they go beyond the superficial, recycled and old subjects which let's agree, we have seen all too many times already. For the month of May, Rogue becomes twice as exciting as they present the most food loaded, epicurean issue there ever was. Let's get started shall we?

Chocolate Pancakes is Love

Several weeks ago, I woke up with a somewhat gloomy mood. So, I checked my kitchen cupboards immediately in search of an instant pick-me-upper. There, I found the answer. Chocolate pancakes!

A Cheesecake Like No Other

I've had countless cheesecakes to date that I've lost count. To be honest, I can't make my top list of cheesecakes since everything is just a blur, however that is not the case with my friend, Yumi. There's a specific cheesecake that has haunted her for years, a cheesecake like no other.

Checking Out Charlie's Grind and Grill

My guy office mates eat inhale burgers, no kidding! If they were girls on PMS, burgers were their go-to, all time favorite comfort food. Imagine a big, juicy patty that's laced with melted, gooey cheese, stacked together with onions, tomatoes, crisp bacon, lettuce all sandwiched together by fluffy, sesame peppered buns. Okay, I kind of get the point... what's not to love?

Wine Appreciation 101

Let me not be a hypocrite and wax poetic about wines I know little, to nothing about, so it's a good thing that the Canadian Embassy sent an invite for some wine tasting 101. What better way to broaden my horizons, right?

Beat The Summer Heat With Bono Artisanal Gelato

Summer has officially begun, and what better way to welcome and bear the skin scorching heat than to enjoy a good serving of premium, freshly made, orgasmic gelato?

Chicken Rolled Oats Caldo

“Everything I like is either illegal, immoral, fattening, addictive, expensive or impossible.” - sounds familiar? I thought so. Such are the woes of carbs-loving people like me, all I know is that I got to give in to my weekly monthly chicken arroz caldo cravings lest I spread doom and gloom throughout the universe!

Ottimo Pasto at Benassi Ristorante Italiano

In today's trend of large scale and commercially operated restaurants, finding a family-owned restaurant dishing out home-cooked Italian meals in the busy heart of Ortigas makes me squeal with delight! After all, nothing beats the euphoric feeling of sitting down at the end of a hectic work day to savor an intricately prepared dish and just lose all sense of time and pending deadlines.

Kimukatsu: Home of the Famous 25-Layered Mille-Feuille Style Tonkatsu!

They say "a good pair of shoes will take you to good places", but I just can't leave everything behind with abandon and fly to Japan to bask under the beauty of Sakura trees, not yet anyway. So I resort to other options available at my disposal, from devouring a tower of travel books to devouring good Japanese food. It feels like I get one step closer to where I want to go, like I'm already halfway there.

Why, don't you know that good food can transport you places?

Three Course Dinner at Grilla Bar and Grill

Grilla Bar and Grill recently invited me to taste their newest offerings of Filipino dishes inspired by various popular, local delicacies in our country's many provinces. I usually forego anything pinoy when dining out to break the monotony, but Grilla's latest offerings have had me hook, line and sinker.

Ramen Bar

"A bowl of ramen is a self-contained universe with life from the sea, the mountains, and the earth. All existing in perfect harmony. Harmony is essential. What holds it all together is the broth. The broth gives life to the ramen." - Maezumi, The Ramen Girl.

Persia Grill - Street Cafe, Rekindling An Old Flame

I have always been a fan of Persia Grill ever since I've dined way back 2011. Always meant to come back and try more of their yummy dishes but guess I got sidetracked along the way. It's a good thing that they finally opened a branch closer to home in Filmore corner Emilia, Makati.

Good food is always best enjoyed in the company of great people, and there is no better way to bond than to do it boodle fight style! You won't need your fancy china and shiny cutlery here, your weapon of choice are your hands. Why not? After all, nothing beats the comfort and fun when eating with your bare hands, you aren't a true blue Filipino if you haven't!

Poco Deli Cakes: What Dreams Are Made Of

This post is so delayed, that I've already forgotten why we were in Ayala to begin with. All I remember was that the place was too crowded at the time and we waited for quite a while, despite the additional tables placed outside the restaurants. I guess all the waiting doesn't matter right now, because that lead me to finding my new favorite dessert. <3

Goin' Loca Over Coca

I always, always go for Japanese cuisine whenever I'm out. That's why when Batch and I were scouting for a restaurant to appease our grumbling tummies, I should be thankful since she half-pleaded and half-demanded that we try dining at Coca. Boy, little did I  suspect that we were in for a treat!

Breakfast Resolutions at IHOP Restaurant

Breakfast has become a fleeting luxury for me ever since my daily commuting time doubled, that's why I often go on the road with an empty stomach. Yes, I know! That's not good for my tummy and my health, so this year I promise to eat my meals on time. To kick start things, I went and pigged out at IHOP!
