Magnum Cafe Manila: The Pleasure Authority

There is something about limited edition that makes you want to hoard like there's no tomorrow. Same goes with pop up restaurants. Knowing its inevitable end makes you positively curious enough to try it out, despite the long lines, despite the hassle, despite all the cons because you just have to. It's almost a matter of life or death. I kid, of course! But isn't it true? The more something becomes more fleeting, the more hype it gets?

Spicy Tangy Tango 89.29PHP or 2.04USD. This order was unplanned and was sort of spur of the moment, I had my eyes on the cookie dough skillet but being informed that it would take a while, I ordered this on impulse. Call it an appetizer, shall we? A melody of vanilla magnum ice cream, coated with belgian chocolate and topped with potato chips, chili flakes and grape nerds and finally drizzled with milk chocolate. I loved it! The ingredients reminded me of Bono's movie night that also incorporates the use of potato chips in the gelato.

Bacon Fat Fries 191.96PHP or 4.39USD. This fell a little bit short of my expectations as the fries were on the bland side. I had to make to do with sprinkling it with table salt and pepper to compensate for the lack in flavor. I think we should have ordered the chicken poppers.

Cookie Dough Skillet 267.86PHP or 6.12USD. Fresh from the oven, this skillet covered with warm chocolate chip cookie dough, topped with 2 vanilla magnum bars that's drizzled with dark chocolate and chopped pecans takes me back to my happy place. We learned the hard way not to order anything else if you're intending to gobble this all up.

Salty + Sweet 89.29PHP or 2.04USD. Vanilla magnum, enveloped by white chocolate and decorated with an intriguing combination of parmesan popcorn, roasted almonds, and quezo de bola shavings. I warned my friend that white chocolate can be too cloying, but that didn't sway her decision. Please do not get me wrong, it was delicious but it's probably best not to consume in one seating or just share it with a friend, lest you have a wicked sweet tooth.

Overall, my curiosity is still not satiated and I'm gonna go back for more. I can always blame PMS for my cravings anyway, mwahahahaha. What flavors and plated dishes have you tried already? Let me know. See you on my next pig out session!
