Impromptu Dinner at Ippudo Ramen

I know, I know! Ippudo has been in the Philippine scene since September, but the lines are always insanely long and my tummy just couldn't handle the ridiculous waiting time when I know I could have had dinner elsewhere, sans all that unnecessary hassle. Thank God for holiday operating hours, my office mates and I were able to walk in without the killer lines after doing overtime and several rounds of bowling.

Ippudo Teppan Tonkotsu Spicy Rice with Nikumiso 290.00PHP or 6.52USD. It's like Christmas served on a hot plate, it's definitely a feast for both the eyes and the tummy. Serving quantity is also humongous so you might wanna share this with someone else, or not!

Shiromaru Tamago 405.00PHP or 9.10USD. "IPPUDO’s original tonkotsu broth served with ultra-thin noodles, pork loin, bean sprouts, kikurage and spring onions. Classic Hakata-style ramen." I wasn't able to taste this as I had a cold and didn't wanna risk infecting my office mate with my germs, but by the looks of her clean bowl, I can tell it was just as delicious as it looks.

Akamaru Tamago 420.00PHP or 9.44USD. "IPPUDO’s original tonkotsu broth enhanced with special blended miso paste and fragrant garlic oil. Served with thin noodles, pork belly, kikurage and spring onions. A refined, modern-style ramen."

My ramen choice for the night, and I was quite happy. The broth had so many depths of flavor that only "umami" can best describe. I opted for hard noodles, which had the right bite and texture contrast against the silky and creamy soup (and because I literally take 1,001 pictures before eating harharhar). The pork belly slices were smaller than Ramen Nagi's but nevertheless tender, fatty and wickedly delicious.

I would definitely go back to Ippudo, but only without the crazy queue outside and I don't know if I can get lucky more than once. On a related note, maybe I should try Nomama Ramen before circling back to ramen joints I've already dined at? We'll see. See you on my next pig out session! :)
