Of all the days that it had to rain buckets, it had to be during my much awaited 4-day vacation. 😒 However, that didn't dampen my spirit one bit! After all, it was the perfect moment to enjoy a hot, comforting and hearty bowl of laksa.
Seafood Laksa 58.00HKD or 7.48USD approx. Bursting with seafood goodness, Big Kitchen's laksa selections are literally big enough for sharing. Although we didn't share orders, since this was our first decent meal that night after arriving and getting lost for a good hour, while trying to find our hotel in Mong Kok.
Chef's Special Laksa 52.00HKD or 6.70USD approx. Well, basically the same thing as the seafood laksa, sans the crustaceans and its other underwater buddies. Although, let me just take a moment to rave about the broth... pure comfort in a bowl. I was "hangry", irritated, legs were tired from walking majority of the day and drenched in the erratic rain, but this laksa made everything better.
It's amazing how food can have an instant effect on anyone just like that.
Cutlet Shrimp with Soft-Boiled Egg Sizzling Plate. 56.00HKD or 7.22USD. It was a safer choice for some of my companions, but I think it's normal for anyone to look for something familiar that reminds them of home. Big Kitchen's sizzling plates are served with poached egg on top, which elevates the dish to a whole new level.
