Sushi and I, we're like old buddies. We go way back my college days, when I was satisfied with the ready to eat variety from convenience stores and supermarkets. As I grew older, I'm glad my taste evolved. I now appreciate and practice "quality over quantity" and how else would I find out where my money's well spent than to get my sushi fix on?

Send-Off Lunch At Hokkaido Ramen Santouka
For my second and official send-off celebration, I was thinking of going Japanese. To my officemates and friends, that's probably a given. I had my mind's eye set to Yabu's sinfully enticing Salmon Katsu but Yabu doesn't accept reservations and it always is jam-packed during peak hours. I didn't want my officemates to starve on account of me, so my backup plan was to try out Hokkaido Ramen Santouka based on the decent reviews online.

Flavors of Naga: Cravings Satisfied at Okuya
I have so many backlogs and yet I'm still in my Naga series. So please bear with me since I really want to complete this series before I move on to the next events, so there's a sense of closure. :P
I do realize that Okuya or any Japanese themed restaurant can be found almost anywhere, but I can't help it that I automatically crave for sushi maybe at least once a week. Good thing Okuya just recently opened in Magsaysay Ave, my grumbling tummy was soon to be appeased.

Akira: The Art of Sushi and Teppanyaki (An Instant Favorite!)
I live for Japanese food, I crave for ramen, sushi, kani salad and other mouth-watering Japanese staples all the time! Luckily for me, I'm not alone. Ekai shares the same love for Japanese food that I can't help but realize that most of our pig out sessions are in Japanese restaurants. I think the the idiom "birds of the same feather, flock together" really is true.

Office Packed Lunch [Series]: Home Made Sushi
Yes, I'm still alive. It's not that I'm running out of my creative juices, it's just that my food blog had to have to take the backseat for the meantime while I prioritize more responsibilities at the moment. So let me leave you with my favorite and fail-safe packed lunch option. Home made sushi baby!

Terrible Service At Teriyaki Boy
If by any chance, I would be able to choose my nationality other than being a Filipino, I would choose to be Japanese. It would be such an easy decision for me, all because I love Japanese food. I think it's pretty obvious since from that start I've shared with you guys numerous Japanese themed pig out sessions, and don't forget BF and I also make occasional DIY sushi just to get our sushi fix.

Cooking With Dog (It's Not What You Think!)
I really can't remember how I happened to discover this channel on Youtube, but since then I've been hooked. Oh and by the way, this YouTube channel isn't about recipes using dog meat, or anything bordering that area.

Going Japanese With Tokyo Tokyo
California Maki
On the house!
Even while still in school, I have been a loyal fan of Tokyo Tokyo. I'm even assuming that's where my undying love for Japanese cuisine ignited. If you will please let me quote:
"There is no sincerer love than the love of food."

Red Kimono
I haven't really read any reviews about Red Kimono, but one fateful day I just happened to have one of my Japanese food craving modes ON, BF and I were in the UP Ayala Land TechnoHub for the 2nd time and knew that there was a Red Kimono branch there, so the adventurous foodie in me braved the unknown and tried to set my expectations not so high for fear that the experience might fail to meet my standards.
We went inside and the place was full of customers, primarily because it was lunch time. Although I think a jam packed place is a good omen to look for in gauging how good their food and services are. I love the clash of the wood and dark decors, plus the larger than life color accent photos hung up every possible corner. It really gave off the Japanese ambiance with a twist.

Nagomi Japanese Restaurant
BF and I had my post birthday celebration in one of our favorite restaurants, Nagomi. Situated in the busy place of Ortigas Center, many people, Japanese or locals aren't fazed to face the heavy bouts of traffic just to have a taste of good old and authentic Japanese food.
Their menu is filled with photos to help the diners visually, and thanks to their drool worthy menu, you will definitely know that WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get), no less and maybe more!

Home Made Sushi
BF and I have been fans of Japanese food for some time now. Maybe because we have worked for Japanese people in our previous company. That, or maybe Japanese food is just so delish and healthy for you.
We all know how sushi can be so expensive when you dine outside, and we think that some times, we do not get our money's worth. So I searched for YouTube videos on how to make sushi. Surprisingly enough, it seemed quite easy.
So one afternoon we went out to buy the ingredients we needed for our first sushi making attempt.
We cooked the Japanese rice first and allowed it to cool. Mixed in some salt, MSG, and rice vinegar to give the rice extra flavor. Make sure that you let the rice cool down before you put it on nori because you will ruin the nori.
For my first sushi attempt, I put in some sliced mango, crab meat slices, and a generous amount of Japanese mayo. You can use the ordinary kind of mayo, but sushi tastes best if you use Japanese ingredients.
